Who are we

Smart Youth Effort for Advanced Community (Smart Youth) is a vibrant youth-led organization in Tanzania dedicated to empowering young people and women to lead sustainable social and economic transformation. We build youth leadership, foster skills development, and promote active engagement to ensure youth and women are key decision-makers shaping Tanzania’s future.

Our work is grounded in the understanding that empowered youth and women, when connected to real opportunities and given leadership roles, become powerful drivers of sustainable development and inclusive growth. We nurture leadership and innovation, link young people to opportunities, and foster collaboration across generations to unlock potential and build resilient communities.

Our Programs & Initiatives

Ustawi Program (US)

The Ustawi Program is dedicated to equipping youth with practical skills, entrepreneurship training, and access to financial services that foster sustainable income generation and poverty reduction. Through this program, we empower young people to become self-reliant economic actors and contributors to Tanzania’s growth.

Jamii Program (JaPro)

Afya na Jamii focuses on promoting social cohesion and improving health outcomes by advancing young women’s leadership, life skills education, and community advocacy. This program fosters empowerment and wellbeing across generations and social groups.

Hifadhi Program (HiPro)

The Hifadhi Program empowers youth to take leadership roles in environmental conservation and climate action, focusing on both terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. It promotes sustainable resource management, biodiversity protection, and community resilience against climate change.
